Authorities have identified a Wrightsville resident who lost his life following a motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend in Columbia Borough.
According to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, 78-year-old Amos Stoltzfus was involved in the incident on Saturday morning while riding a motorcycle along Lancaster Avenue near South 12th Street. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a serious crash in the area.
Police stated that the collision happened at approximately 6:15 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying on the sidewalk nearby. Immediate assistance was provided at the scene before the rider was transported to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital for further medical care.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Stoltzfus later died as a result of his injuries.
Following a review, the coroner determined that the cause of decease was multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the crash. His decease has been officially classified as accidental.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the collision, and it remains unclear what factors may have contributed to the crash.
