According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), troopers were called to the scene at approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 13, 2026, following reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles.
Preliminary findings indicate that a UPS delivery truck was traveling northbound when, for reasons that are still under investigation, it crossed the center line of the roadway. The vehicle then collided with a silver Lexus SUV traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Lexus, identified as Thomas Carter, 71, sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities confirmed that he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the delivery truck was not reported to have sustained life-threatening injuries, and no further details regarding that individual’s condition have been released at this time.
