A suspect has been arrested following a fatal stabbing early Saturday morning in Northeast Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Authorities said officers were called to the 1100 block of First Street NE shortly before 1 a.m., at approximately 12:46 a.m., after reports of a violent incident inside a business. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators identified the victim as 45-year-old Marvin Urquhart, a resident of Washington, D.C.
Following the investigation, police arrested 50-year-old Cadoza Simms, also of Washington, D.C. He has been charged with second-degree murder while armed in connection with the incident.
Officials have not yet released details about what led to the confrontation. At this stage of the investigation, authorities say the motive remains unclear.
Police continue to gather information, including reviewing evidence and speaking with potential witnesses, as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
The incident took place in the early hours of the morning, prompting a significant police response to the area. The location was temporarily secured as investigators processed the scene.
