Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in west Phoenix that took the life of a local man Wednesday evening.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road. Responding officers and the Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the scene, where a man was found unresponsive. He was later identified as 44-year-old Michael Arvallo and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate Arvallo was crossing McDowell Road near 63rd Avenue and was not using a crosswalk at the time of the collision. Police confirmed that the driver involved did not remain on the scene.
