Authorities in Perry County report that a tragic ATV crash Saturday evening in Vicco has resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl. Emilynn Clark, a student at Perry County Central High School, was a passenger on the vehicle when it went off the road and over an embankment around 9 p.m., according to Sheriff Joe Engle. Two adult men were also passengers, with one taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sheriff Engle confirmed that the 16-year-old driver, Clark’s best friend, has been charged with driving under the influence. Because she is a minor, her name has not been released. Authorities indicated alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. Additional charges are under review for the two adult passengers, which could include vehicular homicide or manslaughter. Deputies are consulting with the local commonwealth’s attorney to determine the next steps.

Investigators continue to examine the scene, including blood testing and reviewing surveillance footage from a nearby business to determine the source of alcohol. The ATV involved in the incident was registered to Noah Back of Vicco; authorities have not clarified his involvement in the crash.

Sheriff Engle urged the public to allow families to grieve and emphasized that investigators are working to ensure the case is handled thoroughly.

Clark’s family has established a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses. In statements shared online, they described her as a bright, energetic young woman with an infectious smile, deeply loved by her friends and community. She enjoyed sports, including volleyball and basketball, and her loss has been deeply felt throughout the school and local area. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
