At the same time, a semi-truck was traveling southbound on FM 866. DPS reported that the semi did not yield at the stop sign, resulting in it blocking the westbound lanes. The Ford F-250 collided with the semi’s trailer during the incident. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where Pearson, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, and no other injuries were reported in connection with the crash. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine all contributing factors, including roadway conditions and right-of-way compliance.
