Authorities are continuing to investigate a serious road incident that occurred Sunday evening in Cullman County, resulting in the loss of two individuals.
According to officials, the collision took place at approximately 6:15 p.m. along Alabama 91, near County Road 649, about six miles east of the town of Holly Pond. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a crash involving two vehicles.
Preliminary details indicate that one of the vehicles, driven by 84-year-old O’Neal Kelley of Arab, was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer. The impact caused severe injuries to both occupants of the passenger vehicle.
Mr. Kelley was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, 79-year-old Martha Kelley, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent care. Despite efforts by healthcare professionals, she later passed away at the hospital.
Officials have not yet released additional information about the driver of the tractor-trailer or whether any other individuals were injured in the incident. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear at this time.
