Authorities have identified a 37-year-old man who lost his life following a crash involving a stolen vehicle in the central valley over the weekend.
According to officials, Benito Saragosa was seated in a parked car in a retail parking lot along West Charleston Boulevard near South Decatur Boulevard when the incident occurred. Reports indicate the vehicle had been left running while a family member briefly stepped away.
Law enforcement officials say that during that time, a 55-year-old individual allegedly entered the vehicle and drove away at a high speed. The situation quickly escalated as the vehicle traveled through nearby streets.
Preliminary findings from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department indicate that the moving vehicle collided with another car, causing it to lose control and spin. The vehicle continued through an intersection before striking roadside structures, including a large rock and a light pole.
