A 59-year-old Tennessee man has died following a serious three-vehicle crash that occurred on April 12 along Highway 70 South on the western side of Davidson County, close to the Cheatham County line, according to local authorities.
Officials identified the victim as David Elliott of Cunningham, Tennessee. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision near the Beverly Hills Drive area.
Preliminary findings from law enforcement indicate that Elliott was driving a blue Ford F-150 heading eastbound on Highway 70 at the time of the incident. Investigators reported that a white Ford F-150 traveling in the opposite direction, westbound, suddenly veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then reportedly overcorrected, which led to a crossover into the eastbound lanes and resulted in a side-impact collision with Elliott’s pickup truck.
Following the initial impact, a third vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup truck also traveling eastbound, was unable to avoid the scene and struck the rear of the white Ford F-150. The sequence of impacts resulted in a multi-vehicle crash that caused significant disruption in the area.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the collision. Despite their efforts, Elliott was pronounced deceased at the location of the crash.
Two passengers who were riding in Elliott’s vehicle at the time of the accident sustained injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. They were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
The driver of the white Ford F-150 involved in the incident suffered critical injuries and was also taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for emergency care.
Authorities have stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing. Preliminary reports suggest that charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the white Ford F-150 once the investigation is completed.
Officials have not released further details as they continue to piece together the exact sequence of events leading up to the collision.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of cautious driving and road safety, particularly on busy highways where multiple vehicles are traveling at high speeds.
