Jujuan Jeffers Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident that took place during Lincoln University’s homecoming celebration in Pennsylvania, leaving one person dead and six others injured. Officials confirmed that 20-year-old Jujuan Jeffers of Wilmington, Delaware, lost his life during the event, which occurred late Saturday evening. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office reported that one individual in possession of a firearm was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the International Cultural Center around 9:30 p.m., where students, alumni, and guests were gathered for a post-football game celebration known as Yardfest. According to Lincoln University Police Chief Marc Partee, what was meant to be a joyful gathering turned distressing when shots were fired. Partee expressed deep sadness, saying homecoming is a time for alumni to return, reconnect, and celebrate the university’s legacy — something that was interrupted by this act of violence.

Investigators said one of the injured individuals is currently a student at Lincoln, while another is a graduate. The remaining victims were not directly affiliated with the university. All the injured individuals, ranging in age from 20 to 25, are expected to recover.

Authorities initially placed the campus on lockdown, which was lifted after the situation was secured. Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe stated that there is no indication that the shooter intended to harm multiple people or cause widespread damage. However, investigators are exploring the possibility that more than one person may have been involved.

Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Pennsylvania State Police, continue to assist in the investigation. Authorities are reviewing video footage, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing evidence collected from the scene. De Barrena-Sarobe emphasized that this is a complex investigation and asked anyone with information to contact authorities or submit digital evidence.

Officials later confirmed that 21-year-old Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson of Wilmington, Delaware, was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm without a license. The gun found in his possession was determined to match shell casings recovered from the scene. His bail has been set at $1 million as investigators continue to determine his potential connection to the shooting.

The aftermath of the incident left the Lincoln University community in mourning. President Brenda A. Allen issued a statement expressing sorrow and assuring students that the university is fully cooperating with authorities. She emphasized that counseling and emotional support services are being provided to students, faculty, and staff. Classes were suspended on Monday to allow for a day of healing and reflection, and students were invited to gather for a campus-wide moment of unity.

During a press conference, President Allen said the university will conduct a full review of its safety protocols to enhance security and prevent future incidents. She urged the community to respect the privacy of the victims and their families while focusing on collective healing. “The legacy of Lincoln University has endured for more than 171 years,” Allen said. “We will continue to stand strong and support one another.”

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as people fled for safety. Some were treated for minor injuries after being knocked down in the rush to escape. A nearby bowling alley was used as a temporary refuge, offering warmth, food, and comfort to those affected. Many attendees shared their disbelief, saying they had never expected such an incident during what was meant to be a celebratory occasion.

Governor Josh Shapiro expressed his condolences, offering state support to the Lincoln University community. “Our hearts go out to all those impacted,” he said, urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement.

Officials have reiterated that they are committed to identifying and bringing those responsible to justice, promising not to rest until all parties involved are held accountable. The investigation remains ongoing, with local and federal agencies working to ensure the safety and well-being of the Lincoln University community.
