John Fowler Obituary, Death – Authorities are investigating a tragic motorcycle accident that occurred Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 85, about 22 miles north of Newcastle, Wyoming, which claimed the life of a 55-year-old local man.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol identified the rider as John Fowler of Newcastle. Preliminary reports indicate that Fowler was traveling northbound when the incident occurred. Investigators said the motorcycle, a 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, appeared to be moving at a very high rate of speed as it approached a curve on the roadway. According to the highway patrol, Fowler was unable to safely navigate the curve, causing the motorcycle to lose control.
The vehicle reportedly left the roadway, hitting a driveway embankment before going airborne for approximately 130 feet and coming to rest after striking a tree. Emergency responders were called to the scene shortly after the crash was reported, but despite their efforts, Fowler did not survive.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol continues to investigate the contributing factors of the crash. Authorities said that both speed and possible impairment are being examined as potential causes. Investigators have not yet released final conclusions, and toxicology results are pending as part of the routine investigative process.
Officials noted that Fowler was the only person involved in the accident, and no other vehicles were part of the incident. The roadway remained closed for several hours as troopers conducted an on-site investigation and cleared debris from the scene.
