Andrew Barrett Mackenzie Death News – Authorities have released the name of a motorcyclist who died following a collision with a pickup truck in Fremont earlier this week. Police said the crash happened Monday afternoon and remains under investigation.

The Fremont Police Department identified the motorcyclist as Andrew Barrett Mackenzie, a 49-year-old resident of San Jose. According to investigators, Mackenzie was riding eastbound on Cushing Parkway when the collision occurred near an active construction area.

Police said initial findings suggest that as traffic began moving through the intersection, the motorcyclist attempted to pass alongside a pickup truck in an area where space was limited due to construction. Officers explained that the roadway conditions included traffic cones and narrowed lanes, which may have contributed to the sequence of events.

As Mackenzie tried to continue forward, he reportedly came into contact with construction cones and then attempted to merge into a travel lane. During this process, police said the motorcycle and the pickup truck made contact. The collision caused Mackenzie to lose control of the motorcycle and fall onto the roadway.

Emergency responders were called to the scene and provided immediate assistance. Mackenzie was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he died about an hour later, authorities said. Police confirmed that he was wearing protective headgear at the time of the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained at the scene following the collision. Officers said the driver cooperated fully with investigators as they worked to document the incident and gather information. No citations or charges have been announced, and police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

At this stage, investigators said there is no indication that alcohol or drug impairment played a role in the crash. Police are continuing to review evidence, including the roadway layout, traffic signal timing, and statements from those involved, to better understand what led to the collision.

The incident marks the second fatal traffic crash reported in Fremont this year. Earlier this month, a bicyclist was killed in a separate collision involving a large truck in another part of the city. Local officials often point to these incidents as reminders of the importance of caution for all road users, especially in areas with construction or heavy traffic.

Police urged motorists, cyclists, and motorcyclists to remain alert and patient on the roads, particularly near work zones where lane widths and traffic patterns may change. Authorities also stressed the importance of allowing adequate space between vehicles and avoiding risky maneuvers in tight conditions.

As the investigation continues, Fremont police said they will release additional information if it becomes available. They extended condolences to Mackenzie’s family and friends and acknowledged the impact such incidents have on the community.
