Larry Eugene Huffstutter, 78, a lifelong resident of Trenton, passed away peacefully at 11:42 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Born on April 3, 1948, in Trenton, Missouri, Larry was the son of Harold and Mary Ruth Huffstutter. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1966 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1970. During his service, he was deployed to Vietnam with the Sea Wolves HAL-3 squadron, a unit widely recognized for its distinguished service.
On May 11, 1969, Larry married Janice Dockery in Trenton, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with family, dedication, and shared memories. He spent 40 years working with ConAgra and was also deeply involved in his local community, serving 14 years on the Trenton City Council.
Larry was known for his love of fishing, his strong sense of service, and his pride in being an Eagle Scout. He will be remembered by many as a steady and committed member of his community who valued family and hard work.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters Lisa Hamilton (Shawn) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jenny Huffstutter of Columbia, Missouri; his twin sister Linda Spencer (Larry) and sister Sandra Crawford (Alan), both of Trenton; and several grandchildren including Zachary Hamilton, Kelcy Hamilton, Dr. Lindsay Smith (fiancé Dr. Evan Dowling), and Landon Smith (wife Alexis). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Resthaven Mortuary, followed by inurnment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In honor of Larry’s life and service, memorial donations may be made to the Trenton WWI Memorial or the North 65 Center.
