Yolanda Rainey Obituary, Death – Authorities in Texas are investigating a motorcycle crash in West El Paso that claimed the life of an Oklahoma woman on Thursday afternoon, October 23. According to the El Paso Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. along the 1200 block of Resler Drive, near High Ridge Drive. The rider, identified as 65-year-old Yolanda Rainey, was operating a 2021 blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the accident occurred.

Investigators reported that Rainey was approaching the intersection of Resler and High Ridge drives when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto High Ridge. During the turn, her motorcycle struck a curb, causing her to lose control and collide with a nearby rock wall. The impact caused the rider to be separated from the motorcycle, leading to serious injuries.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided immediate aid before transporting Rainey to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she later passed away as a result of her injuries.

Detective Judy Oviedo, spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department, confirmed the details in a press statement released Friday. She added that the department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit is reviewing the circumstances that led to the crash. Officers are examining factors such as speed, road conditions, and visibility at the time of the incident to better understand what might have contributed to the loss of control.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant information to contact the department’s non-emergency line at 915-832-4400. Tipsters may also share information anonymously through Crime Stoppers of El Paso by calling 915-566-8477 (TIPS).

This incident marks the 53rd traffic-related death in El Paso so far in 2025, compared to 55 during the same period last year. Police officials continue to urge all motorists and motorcycle riders to prioritize safety and remain cautious on the roads.

Motorcycle safety experts emphasize the importance of proper training, wearing protective gear, and staying alert to potential hazards while riding. Intersections, like the one at Resler and High Ridge drives, often pose higher risks for riders due to sharp turns, uneven surfaces, and changing traffic patterns.

Local residents who live near the area described the intersection as one that requires extra care, especially when making turns or navigating the curbs. Some noted that the visibility around the corner can be limited due to landscaping and parked vehicles, which may make maneuvering more challenging for drivers and motorcyclists alike.

In response to ongoing traffic incidents, El Paso officials have been working to enhance road safety through education campaigns and roadway improvements. Police departments frequently remind drivers to remain attentive and avoid distractions such as mobile phone use, which can reduce reaction time in critical moments.

The tragic loss of Ms. Rainey has touched both local and out-of-state communities. Friends and family members have expressed their grief and shared memories of her as a spirited individual who enjoyed traveling and riding motorcycles. Many have taken to social media to offer condolences and to remind others about the importance of cautious driving and road awareness.

The El Paso Police Department continues its investigation into the crash and has not released additional information about the cause. Updates are expected once officials complete their analysis of the scene and vehicle data.

This unfortunate event serves as a solemn reminder of the need for continuous vigilance on the road. Whether operating a car or motorcycle, every driver shares responsibility for maintaining safety and preventing further tragedies on local streets.
