Authorities in Dillon are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred within a short time frame on Monday, leaving two people dead and others hospitalized.
According to the Dillon Police Department, officers were first dispatched around 5 p.m. to a residence on South 9th Avenue following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male with injuries. Emergency responders transported the individual to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
While officers were still at the initial scene, police said a second call came in at approximately 5:20 p.m. reporting another shooting on South 1st Avenue. Officers responded quickly and found multiple individuals in need of medical assistance.
Authorities confirmed that those injured in the second incident were transported to a hospital for treatment. One of the victims later died, while the condition of the others has not been publicly disclosed.
Officials have identified the two individuals who died as 22-year-old Tyrese Smith and 18-year-old Ja-Quez Alford, both from Dillon County. Authorities have not yet specified which victim was connected to each location.
Law enforcement emphasized that the two incidents are being treated as separate cases. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding each shooting and whether there is any connection between them.
At this time, no arrests have been announced in either case. Police say both investigations remain active, with detectives gathering evidence, reviewing information from the scenes, and speaking with potential witnesses.
