Tyler Underwood, Hamlin Obituary, Death – Authorities in Greece have confirmed that a second person has died as a result of a serious traffic crash that occurred over the weekend on West Ridge Road. The Greece Police Department announced Thursday that 28-year-old Tyler Underwood of Hamlin passed away after suffering critical injuries in the incident.
The crash took place around 1 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of West Ridge Road and Elmgrove Road. According to police, one vehicle was traveling westbound when it struck another vehicle that was stopped at a red traffic signal. The impact led to a multi-person emergency response and temporarily disrupted traffic in the area as first responders worked at the scene.
Officers said that 42-year-old Craig Cavallaro of Parma, who was driving the westbound vehicle, was pronounced dead at the location of the crash. Underwood was a passenger in the vehicle that had been stopped at the traffic light. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital along with the driver of that vehicle, 25-year-old Riesen Kimmerly of Hamlin, both of whom sustained serious injuries.
Police provided an update earlier in the week indicating that Kimmerly remained in serious condition. As of Thursday, no additional information has been released regarding her current medical status. Authorities have not shared further details about the circumstances that led to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The loss of a second life has deepened the impact of the crash on the local community. Friends, family members, and residents expressed sadness as news of Underwood’s passing was made public. Community members have continued to offer thoughts and support to those affected as they await further updates.
Greece police said investigators are continuing to review the incident to determine what factors may have contributed to the crash. This process typically includes examining vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and available witness information. Officials emphasized that thorough reviews are essential to understanding how the crash occurred and to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities also reminded drivers of the importance of staying alert and cautious while on the road, especially at intersections where vehicles may be stopping or slowing for traffic signals. Even brief lapses in attention can have serious consequences, and officials continue to encourage motorists to follow traffic laws and practice defensive driving.
As the investigation proceeds, police stated that more information may be released if it becomes available. For now, they are asking the public for patience as they work to complete their review.
This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the risks present on busy roadways and the lasting effects traffic crashes can have on families and communities. Greece police extended their condolences to the loved ones of both individuals who lost their lives and said they remain committed to conducting a full and careful investigation.
