Officials reported that a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by 27-year-old Travis Reed of Fort Worth, was traveling southbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane. There, it collided head-on with a 2017 Ford Expedition traveling north, driven by 40-year-old Dusty Dickerson of Channing.

Both Dickerson and a 12-year-old female passenger were able to exit the SUV before it was fully consumed by the fire. They were transported to an Amarillo hospital, with Dickerson reported to have sustained serious injuries and the young passenger experiencing minor injuries.

Tragically, Travis Reed was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the cause of the crash, and the incident remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officials have emphasized that investigations like these are conducted carefully to determine all contributing factors, including whether road conditions, vehicle issues, or other circumstances played a role in the collision.
