A 68-year-old man from Sturgis has died following a two-vehicle crash in Nottawa Township on Wednesday night, according to officials.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the area of M-86 and Findley Road after receiving reports of the collision.
Authorities said a vehicle traveling westbound on M-86 attempted to pass a semi-truck and collided head-on with an oncoming eastbound vehicle. Emergency responders provided life-saving measures at the scene, but the driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as Thomas Lang of Sturgis, was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by LifeCare Ambulance and the Michigan State Police.
Officials have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the crash and are continuing their inquiry. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
