ROCHESTER, Minn. — Authorities have released the name of the man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting and an armed burglary Sunday night, January 25, the Rochester Police Department says.
Officials say officers were called just after 9:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of Marion Road Southeast in Rochester, where they located a man suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
Shortly afterward, officers responded to a report of a burglary involving a man armed with a firearm in the 2700 block of Marion Road Southeast — just a few blocks away. Police took the suspect into custody without further incident and later linked him to the earlier shooting.
On Tuesday morning, law enforcement identified the suspect as 35‑year‑old Michael Milbrandt of Rochester, who was booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center shortly after his arrest.
Police said the victim and the suspect are related, though details about their relationship or a motive have not been released. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Rochester Police Department as the investigation continues.
At this time, no further public safety concerns connected to this case have been reported.
