The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a crash in north Charlotte that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to police, the collision occurred Saturday around 6 p.m. on West Sugar Creek Road near Douglas Street. Investigators reported that 56-year-old Reginald Stowe was operating a 2022 Suzuki motorcycle when it collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Stowe sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that he later died on Thursday as a result of those injuries.
Police said the occupants of the Jeep were not injured in the crash. Investigators also stated that the driver of the Jeep was not impaired at the time of the incident, and no charges have been filed.
According to preliminary findings, speed is being examined as part of the investigation. Toxicology results are pending as officials work to determine all contributing factors.
