Authorities in Pennsylvania confirmed that an 81-year-old man from Clarion died following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Mercer County on Wednesday.

The Mercer County Coroner, John A. Libonati, identified the victim as Rayburn George. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 9:50 a.m. along the westbound lanes of I-80 near the seven-mile marker in Lackawannock Township.

Officials stated that George’s death was the result of blunt force trauma and has been ruled accidental. The release of his identity was delayed to allow authorities to notify family members prior to public disclosure.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released further details about the incident, including the number of vehicles involved or whether any other injuries occurred.
