The pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening on South Anthony Boulevard has been identified, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Officials said Quincey LaMount Jones, 53, of Fort Wayne, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an autopsy, the coroner’s office determined that Jones died from multiple blunt impact injuries. His manner of death has been ruled accidental.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred just before 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and Eckart Street. Investigators said Jones was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the collision and secured the area. The driver involved was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities.
Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review the events surrounding the incident.
