Authorities have filed multiple murder charges against a suspect following a police pursuit that ended in a deadly crash in Pomona, according to officials.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as 25-year-old Jennifer Loera-Zarco and 26-year-old Marc Trejo Saldivar. Officials confirmed that Loera-Zarco was expecting a child at the time of the incident.
According to the Pomona Police Department, the sequence of events began Wednesday night when officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance on East 10th Street. While officers were at the location, the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Marshall Judson, returned to the area driving in a reckless manner.
Police allege that the suspect struck a parked patrol vehicle before leaving the scene, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit. Authorities said the situation escalated as the suspect continued driving through the area.
The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle collided with another car carrying the victims. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and both individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the crash, according to officials.
Judson was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators reported that items including a firearm and related components were recovered from his vehicle. Authorities stated that no additional suspects are believed to be involved.
Initially, the suspect faced several charges, including vehicular manslaughter and offenses related to evading law enforcement. Following further review, prosecutors upgraded the charges to include multiple counts of murder.
The incident has drawn attention within the community, and a vigil was held to honor the victims. Family members and community members gathered to pay their respects and support one another.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to review evidence and finalize details surrounding the case. Officials are working to establish a complete timeline of events leading up to the crash.
