Authorities in Fresno have identified a man who died following a shooting Thursday night in the city’s southwest area.
The victim has been confirmed as 38-year-old Perry Paul Espinosa. Police say the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on East Samson Street, between MLK Jr. Boulevard and Clara Avenue.
According to authorities, preliminary findings indicate a confrontation may have occurred prior to the gunfire that resulted in Espinosa’s decease. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
Fresno police are actively canvassing the neighborhood and are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Officials noted that this marks the sixth homicide reported in Fresno so far in 2026. Authorities have asked members of the public with any information to contact the Fresno Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
