Oreshama Johnson, Calvin Plant Obituary, Death News – Authorities in Washington County, Mississippi, have identified the six individuals who lost their lives following a tragic overnight incident that took place early Saturday morning. The Washington County Coroner’s Department, led by Coroner LaQuesha Watkins, released the names and details as investigators continue to piece together what happened.

According to officials, the event occurred at approximately 12:38 a.m. on Saturday. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found several people in need of urgent medical attention. Coroner Watkins reported that upon her arrival, she discovered four individuals who were unresponsive and showing no signs of life. Despite immediate response efforts, all four were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their families were notified shortly after.

The victims were later identified as 41-year-old Oreshama Johnson, 19-year-old Calvin Plant, 25-year-old Shelbyona Powell, and 18-year-old Kaslyn Johnson.

Later in the morning, Coroner Watkins received additional notifications from other jurisdictions regarding two more victims who had been transported to hospitals in nearby counties for treatment. Around 10:25 a.m., the Hinds County Coroner’s Office informed her department that 18-year-old Amos Brantley Jr. had passed away from injuries sustained during the incident. Approximately an hour and a half later, at 11:50 a.m., the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office notified Washington County officials that 34-year-old JaMichael Jones had also succumbed to his injuries.

This brought the total number of confirmed fatalities to six. The Washington County Coroner’s Office has taken custody of all six individuals and confirmed that their remains will be sent to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory for autopsies as part of the ongoing investigation.

Local law enforcement agencies are working closely with state and regional authorities to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. Investigators have been collecting evidence, speaking with witnesses, and reviewing any available surveillance footage from the area. While the investigation remains in its early stages, officials have stated that all potential leads are being pursued to understand what led to the violence.

Coroner Watkins described the situation as deeply heartbreaking for the community and emphasized that her office is working with compassion and diligence to assist the families involved. “Our hearts go out to each family affected by this devastating event,” Watkins said. “We will continue to support the investigation in every way possible to ensure answers are found.”
