Authorities have identified a 16-year-old driver who died following a rollover crash Friday evening near Neosho. Officials say the incident is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Major Crash Unit.
According to troopers, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. along Iris Road, approximately seven miles north of Neosho. Investigators reported that the teen, identified as Harley Martin, was driving an SUV eastbound when the vehicle left one side of the roadway.
Preliminary findings indicate the driver attempted to correct the vehicle’s path after leaving the road. Authorities say the SUV then crossed back over the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after the crash was reported.
Officials confirmed that Martin died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. A passenger, also a 16-year-old from Neosho, was transported to Freeman Hospital with moderate injuries, according to authorities. No additional details about the passenger’s condition have been released.
