Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon in western Iowa.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the collision happened on Highway 30 just south of Logan. Preliminary reports indicate that a Toyota traveling eastbound crossed the center line and collided with a westbound GMC.
Officials identified the driver of the Toyota as 30-year-old Merari Perez. She was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. The driver of the GMC sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the individual’s name or current condition.
The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including factors that may have contributed to the vehicle crossing the center line. No additional details have been provided at this time.
