Authorities in Galveston County confirmed that a motorcycle crash on Monday afternoon resulted in one death and a law enforcement investigation is ongoing.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of West Main Street. Officers from the League City Police Department observed two motorcycles traveling along the north sidewalk of FM 518 before entering the roadway at high speed.
Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but due to safety concerns, the pursuit was discontinued. Shortly afterward, one of the motorcycles collided with a pickup truck. The rider, later identified as 19-year-old Maxwell Henley, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second motorcycle, 22-year-old Carson Drucker, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. Authorities reported that he was held on a $250,000 bond. Officials also noted that Drucker had an outstanding felony warrant from Harris County related to a failure to register as a sex offender.
West Main Street remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene. The roadway was reopened at 6:55 p.m. once authorities completed initial procedures.
Galveston County officials said that, as standard practice, an outside agency handles investigations when a crash occurs following a pursuit involving the originating department. This ensures an independent and thorough review of the circumstances.
Authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses to fully understand the events that led to the crash. No additional details regarding the incident or the pickup truck driver have been released.
The sheriff’s office emphasized the ongoing investigation is a priority, and the community’s safety remains a key focus. Authorities encourage anyone with information related to the crash to come forward and assist investigators in clarifying the events of the afternoon.
This incident highlights the potential risks associated with high-speed roadway incidents and the protocols law enforcement follows to manage public safety while responding to such situations.
Officials have indicated that updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
