Authorities have identified the elderly man who died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Kalihi. According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. in the driveway of a private residence. Officials said Judd See was lying in the driveway when a 19-year-old woman attempted to back her vehicle out and struck him.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported See to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries, authorities confirmed.
Police reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. She was not injured in the incident.
At this time, investigators say that speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors. The case remains under review as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials have not released additional details regarding why See was in the driveway at the time. The investigation is ongoing, and further information may be provided once it is completed.
Police noted that this marks the first non-traffic-related fatality on Oahu this year. At the same time last year, no such fatalities had been recorded.
