Authorities in Spartanburg County are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday evening. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:30 p.m. to a residence on Schooner Circle in Spartanburg following reports of a shooting.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they located an individual who had sustained a gunshot injury. Emergency personnel provided assistance before the victim was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Officials later identified the victim as 21-year-old Jose Antonio Bocanegra. Authorities confirmed that he died early Sunday morning while undergoing medical care.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigators have not indicated whether any arrests have been made or if any charges are pending at this time.
