Authorities have identified the man who died in an early Sunday morning shooting in Manatee County as 27-year-old Jamari Murray-Barnes.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies on routine patrol heard multiple gunshots around 3:31 a.m. on March 8. When they arrived at the 5200 block of 14th Street West, they found Murray-Barnes and another man inside a white vehicle. Murray-Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Officials reported that the vehicle was found in the roadway with numerous spent shell casings nearby. Detectives are actively investigating the incident. Preliminary findings suggest this may have been a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence, the sheriff’s office said.
No arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
