Authorities have identified the individuals involved in a fatal officer-involved shooting in Jackson County on Wednesday night.
According to the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, 27-year-old Maley Elizabeth Ross and Deputy Michael Jimerson both died following the incident. Deputy Jimerson later succumbed to his injuries at Ocean Springs Hospital.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation reported that the incident occurred at the Reserve at Gulf Hills apartment complex around 11 p.m. Authorities said Deputy Jimerson was responding to a domestic disturbance call when a brief foot pursuit led to an exchange of gunfire with Ross.
Officials confirmed that Ross was armed and that Deputy Jimerson was wearing a body camera during the encounter.
