The Greene County community is mourning the loss of a young student who tragically died in a crash over the weekend. The Greene County Coroner’s Office confirmed Monday morning that 17-year-old Jack Teemer III, a student from the Oakwood City Schools District, was killed in the incident.

According to initial reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday along Waynesville Road near Centerville Road in Sugarcreek Township. Authorities said Teemer was driving a 2002 Saab 9-3 southbound on Waynesville Road when the vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but tragically, Teemer was pronounced dead at the location.

Eyewitnesses told local media that Teemer had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash, highlighting the severity of the impact. Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the incident to determine all factors that contributed to the accident, including road conditions and other potential safety concerns.

Teemer was an active student in the Oakwood City Schools District and participated in the automotive program at Kettering Fairmont Career Tech Center. A spokesperson for Kettering City Schools explained that Kettering, Oakwood, and Centerville schools are part of a Career and Technical Education (CTE) compact, allowing students from all three districts to take specialized career-focused courses at either the Kettering Fairmont campus or the Centerville campus. Teemer was enrolled in the automotive program, which provides hands-on training and education for students interested in pursuing careers in the automotive field.

The loss of such a young life has deeply affected classmates, teachers, and the local community. Messages of condolence and support have poured in from friends, neighbors, and educators, highlighting the profound sense of grief felt by those who knew him. Students, families, and educators are rallying together during this difficult time to provide support to Teemer’s loved ones.

Authorities emphasize the importance of patience as the investigation continues. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reviewing all evidence and circumstances surrounding the crash, and additional updates will be provided as they become available. Officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.

This tragic accident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers associated with late-night driving, particularly for young drivers, and underscores the importance of road safety, vehicle awareness, and the use of safety measures such as seatbelts.

As the Greene County community mourns the loss of Jack Teemer III, the focus remains on supporting his family, honoring his memory, and ensuring that the events leading to this tragedy are fully understood. Friends, classmates, and educators continue to come together to provide comfort and remember the life of a promising young student whose life was cut far too short.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have assured the public that updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
