An 88-year-old woman has died after a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of State Road 7 and Pioneer Road in Palm Beach County, authorities report.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred on February 18 around 12:24 p.m. A 2020 Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on SR-7 failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection while cross traffic had a green signal.
Two vehicles—a 2024 Toyota Tundra and a 2026 Cadillac Lyriq—were stopped at the intersection at the time of the crash. The Malibu first struck the Toyota, pushing both vehicles together, and then collided with the Cadillac before coming to rest against it.
The Malibu’s driver and her passenger, identified as 88-year-old Iris D. Levin of Royal Palm Beach, were taken to Wellington Regional Medical Center. Levin passed away from injuries sustained in the crash in the early hours of February 19, authorities said.
The drivers of the Toyota and Cadillac were not injured. Officials confirmed that no alcohol or drug impairment has been reported for any of the drivers involved.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, and next of kin have been notified. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of cautious driving and adherence to traffic signals. Authorities encourage drivers to remain alert and follow road safety rules to help prevent similar accidents.
