FRISCO, Texas — A family and community are mourning the loss of a 16‑year‑old girl who died following a sledding accident in their neighborhood on Sunday, January 25, the Frisco Police Department and relatives say.

Officials responded around 2:30 p.m. to a call about an accident near Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court. When officers arrived, they found two 16‑year‑old girls with serious injuries after a sled they were riding struck a curb and hit a tree. Both teens were taken to a hospital, where one later died and the other remains in critical condition.

The victim has been identified by her family as Elizabeth Angle, a sophomore at Wakeland High School. She was involved in school activities, including playing on her soccer team, and was remembered by family, friends and coaches for her positive spirit and community involvement.

Friends and neighbors have expressed their sorrow, and a small memorial has formed near the scene as people pay tribute to her life. Wakeland High School officials have said the loss has deeply affected the school community, and counseling will be available for students and staff when classes resume.

Frisco police continue to investigate the incident with support from the Denton County District Attorney’s Office as they work to understand all the circumstances surrounding the crash.
