Fitzgerald, Georgia — January 27, 2026: A 29‑year‑old woman has died following a shooting at a home where a party was taking place early Sunday morning, Georgia authorities said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is leading the inquiry to determine what happened and is asking for the public’s help.
What Happened
Police in Fitzgerald were called to the 100 block of Sullivan Court around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday after a 911 call reported a shooting at a residence where people were gathered for a party. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Victim Identified
The victim has been identified by the GBI as 29‑year‑old Shekela Woodard, who lived in the Fitzgerald area. Authorities have not released additional information about her or her family out of respect for privacy and because the investigation is ongoing.
