Eric Clayton, Birmingham Police Arrest Suspect in Friday Night Homicide Investigation.

The Birmingham Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Friday evening. According to police, officers were dispatched around 7:32 p.m. to the 400 block of Lawson Road after receiving reports of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a gunshot injury.

The victim was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment. Authorities later confirmed that he died on February 14 as a result of his injuries.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Eric Clayton of Birmingham.

Following an investigation, BPD reported that 22-year-old Kenyardus McCall was taken into custody in connection with the incident. McCall has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond. Authorities stated that he will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.

Investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting. The case remains under active investigation as detectives continue to gather evidence and review information.

The Birmingham Police Department is asking anyone with information related to the case to contact its Homicide Unit.
