Douglas Bacot – Authorities have identified the man who died in a single-vehicle crash earlier this week in Caledonia, Michigan, as 41-year-old Douglas Bacot.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred on westbound 84th Street, just west of Kraft Avenue. Officials said Bacot’s vehicle was the only one involved in the crash. According to authorities, the vehicle left the roadway, collided with trees, and rolled over. The impact resulted in Bacot being ejected from the vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene immediately attempted life-saving measures, including CPR, before first responders arrived. Despite these efforts, Bacot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that the crash remains under investigation. Officials also expressed gratitude to the witnesses who assisted in attempting to help Bacot following the collision.

Single-vehicle accidents can happen for a variety of reasons, and investigators will review factors such as road conditions, vehicle performance, and other circumstances to determine what contributed to the crash.

Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution while on the road and to seek help immediately if involved in or witnessing an accident.

As the investigation continues, what steps can be taken to reduce the risk of single-vehicle crashes on local roads?
