The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal dog attack as 74-year-old Diane Emily Pellington of Murphy.
According to investigators, the incident occurred in the Cross Creek Lane area. Authorities stated that the dogs involved were known to reside in the neighborhood and were on their owner’s property at the time of the attack. Additional details about the circumstances have not been released as the investigation continues.
In a public statement, the sheriff’s office extended condolences to Pellington’s family and loved ones.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home shared an obituary noting that Pellington previously worked as a veterinary assistant. She was described as someone who enjoyed the outdoors and cherished time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
