According to investigators, what began as a routine response to a minor traffic incident quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) reported that Deputy Jaramillo was responding to a call regarding a minor traffic crash near 12214 SW 128th Street, close to the Kendall area. The situation began after Rustrian was involved in a fender bender near an Enterprise Rent-a-Car location. Instead of stopping immediately at the scene, authorities said he parked a short distance away and switched seats with his boyfriend, possibly in an attempt to avoid responsibility for the collision.
When Deputy Jaramillo arrived and began speaking with the occupants, witnesses confirmed that Rustrian had been the driver at the time of the crash. Investigators said that what followed was a tense exchange that quickly turned into a physical struggle between the deputy and Rustrian.
