A tragic crash in Somerset Township on Monday morning has left two people dead and another seriously injured, according to state police.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. along Route 601, near the intersection of North Center Avenue and Lake Road. Emergency crews responded quickly after receiving reports of a serious single-vehicle crash.
Authorities have identified the victims as Curtis Green, 61, and Dorothy Green, 84. Both were occupants of an SUV involved in the collision.
Investigators say early findings suggest the vehicle left the roadway and struck multiple objects along the roadside. These included curbs, a traffic sign, and a pole before the SUV came to rest.
Officials confirmed that both Curtis and Dorothy Green were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A third passenger, identified as a 64-year-old man, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a medical facility for treatment. No additional details about his condition have been released.
Police emphasized that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The crash led to temporary road closures in the area, with emergency crews working for several hours to manage the scene and assist with the ongoing investigation.
At this time, authorities have not determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Investigators are continuing to review all possible factors as they work to establish a clearer timeline of events.
State police are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.
Updates will be shared as more details become available.
