The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on State Route 104 in the Town of Sodus.
Deputies responded to the scene east of the State Route 14 intersection after receiving reports of a head-on crash. According to preliminary findings, a vehicle operated by 77-year-old Claude E. Krieger of Red Creek crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle driven by 70-year-old Philip C. Adamy of Hannibal.
Krieger was pronounced dead at the scene. Adamy was extricated from his vehicle by emergency responders and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of a head injury, authorities said.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit and Investigations Division are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
Motorists in the area experienced temporary traffic disruptions while emergency crews worked at the scene.
