Officials say the crash was reported around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Highway 61 and Zachary Avenue. Emergency crews were quickly alerted, including through automatic crash detection notifications from mobile devices.

Deputies arriving at the scene found a single vehicle off the roadway in a ditch north of the intersection. According to preliminary information, the vehicle had been traveling northbound before leaving the road.

At this time, authorities have not determined the cause of the crash. Investigators are continuing to review all available evidence to better understand the events leading up to the incident.
