Authorities have identified the victims of a tragic two-vehicle crash that occurred earlier this week near Arlee, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Officials confirmed that Bryeanna Brazill and her 1-month-old infant died following a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 93 on Monday night. The crash was reported to Lake County dispatch at approximately 9:38 p.m. near the 21-mile marker.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the incident happened when a vehicle traveling northbound crossed the double yellow center line and collided with an oncoming vehicle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found two vehicles that had collided in the northbound lane.

Authorities said Brazill, who was driving the passenger car, and her infant were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, described as a full-size truck, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said those injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

The Montana Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision. As part of the process, investigators will review roadway conditions, vehicle evidence, and other factors that may have contributed to the incident.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is handling the coroner investigation and will conduct autopsies for both victims as part of the official review.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the Brazill family during what officials described as an incredibly difficult time. Community members and local leaders have also shared messages of sympathy as the investigation continues.

Head-on collisions are among the most serious types of traffic accidents, and authorities often emphasize the importance of safe driving practices to reduce risks on highways. Law enforcement agencies regularly encourage drivers to stay alert, remain in their designated lanes, and avoid distractions while driving.

Other safety recommendations include obeying posted speed limits, avoiding impaired or fatigued driving, and maintaining full attention while behind the wheel. These precautions can help reduce the likelihood of serious accidents and protect everyone on the road.

Investigators say the crash remains under review, and additional details may be released once the investigation is completed.

As communities reflect on this tragic loss, the incident also highlights the importance of continued efforts to promote road safety.
