Antonio Vazquez Molina,Jose Manuel Castellanos-Morales Obituary, Death – The Marion County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of two of the three individuals killed in what police are calling the deadliest shooting Indianapolis has seen so far in 2025.
Victims Identified
On Tuesday, officials confirmed that 29-year-old Antonio Vazquez Molina and 22-year-old Jose Manuel Castellanos-Morales were among those killed during the late-night violence. Molina was found inside a bullet-riddled vehicle on the 4500 block of Guion Road shortly before midnight Monday. Inside the same car, police also discovered the body of a woman who had been shot and killed, though her name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Castellanos-Morales was located outside the car suffering from severe gunshot injuries. He was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later died despite medical efforts to save him. The three fatalities marked a tragic milestone for the city, as this was the first triple homicide of the year.
City’s Growing Violence
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), this incident has pushed the city’s homicide total for 2025 to more than 120 deaths. Recent department data reveals that at least eight separate cases this year have involved multiple victims, but this marks the first time three people were killed in one episode.
The sharp increase in deadly violence continues to concern residents and city leaders, adding urgency to ongoing discussions about crime prevention and public safety initiatives.
Investigation Underway
Police officers responding to the Guion Road shooting reported finding overwhelming evidence of gunfire at the scene. IMPD spokesperson Officer Tommy Thompson explained that investigators recovered signs that “a large number of rounds” had been fired, pointing to an intense exchange of gunfire.
Thompson urged residents to come forward with any details that might help police reconstruct the events. “This has struck the community to the core,” he said. “We want to support the neighborhood, and we want to protect the city of Indianapolis as a whole. But we cannot do it alone—we need the public’s cooperation.”
Detectives are now working to determine what led to the gunfire and whether the victims were targeted.
Neighbors on Edge
Although IMPD call logs do not show a history of major incidents at the Guion Road address, neighbors told local reporters they have been concerned about activity there for some time. Several mentioned recurring issues with large gatherings and disturbances at both the house where the shooting happened and another nearby property.
Residents declined to go on the record, citing fear of retaliation, but one neighbor admitted to being so uneasy that they avoid answering their own door. Investigators confirmed that any prior calls linked to the residence will be examined as part of the broader investigation.
Additional Shootings
The violence did not end with the Guion Road tragedy. Less than 24 hours later, Indianapolis police responded to a separate fatal shooting on Concord Street Tuesday afternoon. At this stage, investigators do not believe the two incidents are connected.
Even more troubling, police reported two additional deadly shootings in the city later the same day, underscoring the ongoing challenge of gun violence across Indianapolis.
Community Response
The string of killings has rattled residents who are already grappling with concerns about safety. Community leaders have consistently stressed the importance of public partnership with law enforcement, urging people to share tips anonymously if they fear coming forward publicly.
For investigators, the Guion Road shooting is now a top priority. Detectives continue canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing potential witnesses. The coroner’s office, meanwhile, is working to officially confirm the identity of the female victim so her family can be notified.
