A woman has died weeks after an assault in east Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 9:20 a.m. on February 4 to the area of Harrisburg Road near Pence Road following reports of an aggravated assault. When they arrived, they located a woman with serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities identified the victim as 37-year-old Adie Moreira-Martinez. Police confirmed that she died on February 27 as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident. Her next of kin have been notified.
CMPD reported that a suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon. The individual’s name has not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather information about the circumstances surrounding the case.
