A Kansas City neighborhood was shaken Sunday evening after a young man was fatally shot in the street.
Police responded just after 7:30 p.m. to the 5700 block of Askew Avenue, following multiple reports of gunfire. When officers arrived near 58th Street and Askew, they found 19-year-old Alexander Richardson lying unresponsive in the roadway with gunshot injuries. Emergency crews tried life-saving measures, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say preliminary information indicates Richardson had an interaction with several unknown men before shots were fired. Those individuals left the scene, and no suspects have been identified. The case is being treated as a homicide.
Kansas City police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
