Authorities in Louisiana are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred on the evening of April 6, 2026, along Highway 34, just north of Highway 810. The incident, which took place shortly after 6:00 p.m., involved a motorcycle and a large commercial truck.
According to preliminary findings, a 20-year-old man from Chatham was traveling eastbound on a Kawasaki motorcycle at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, a Kenworth tractor pulling a trailer was moving in the opposite direction along the same highway.
Investigators report that, for reasons still being determined, the motorcycle crossed over the center line into the path of the oncoming truck, leading to a direct collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
Despite wearing protective headgear, the young rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was properly secured and did not sustain any injuries.
