Authorities in northern Kentucky are investigating a serious late-night traffic incident that resulted in the loss of a 16-year-old and left three others injured.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Bullittsville Road in Hebron at approximately 10:34 p.m. on Sunday. Preliminary information indicates that a 17-year-old was driving a 2015 Honda Accord when the vehicle approached a sharp curve along the roadway.

Investigators say the car crossed the center line while navigating the bend. In an apparent attempt to regain control, the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The car then collided with roadside obstacles and overturned.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and began assessing those involved. A front-seat passenger sustained critical injuries and was found trapped beneath the vehicle. Sadly, the individual, later identified as 16-year-old Zachary Snyder of Burlington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and two other passengers—a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female—were able to exit the vehicle without assistance. They were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Authorities reported that their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officials are working to determine all factors that may have contributed to the crash. Early findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the incident. Authorities also noted that some occupants were not using seatbelts at the time.

The roadway was temporarily closed for several hours while crews worked at the scene and investigators documented evidence. The road was later reopened in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation and continues to review details surrounding the crash. Officials are urging drivers, especially young motorists, to exercise caution, obey speed limits, and prioritize safety measures while on the road.

This incident has prompted renewed conversations about road safety and the importance of responsible driving habits. Community members are encouraged to remain mindful of traffic rules and take steps to help prevent similar tragedies.

Further updates will be shared as authorities release more information.
