Authorities have identified a Georgia woman who died following a two-vehicle crash in Greene County earlier this week. Officials say the incident also left two other individuals injured.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the victim was 64-year-old Shelia A. Powell of Sandy Springs. The crash occurred in the afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. along Interstate 59, about seven miles north of Eutaw.

Preliminary information released by law enforcement indicates that Powell was a passenger in a Hyundai Venue traveling along the interstate when the vehicle left the roadway. Authorities say the SUV then struck a cable barrier and overturned before being involved in a second collision with a Chevrolet Silverado.

Trooper Sgt. Reginal King stated that the Silverado was driven by 22-year-old Jack C. Farrell of Pelham. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported.

Officials confirmed that Powell was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the factors that may have contributed to the crash.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 61-year-old Luke Powell of Atlanta, sustained injuries in the incident. Farrell, the driver of the second vehicle, was also injured. Both individuals were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events leading up to the incident and whether any additional factors played a role.

Officials are urging motorists to remain cautious while traveling on highways and to follow all safety guidelines. Authorities emphasize the importance of staying attentive while driving and adhering to traffic regulations.

The crash remains under active investigation, and further updates will be released as more information becomes available.
